In order to enjoy the full length of the trail during trail running, you must have a pair of good trail running shoes. It will provide you with a cushion that helps lower the impact on your joints, especially when running downhill, protection from rocks and abrasion as well as promote comfort for long-duration trails.

In this Asics Gel-Venture 7 review, we will see if the features, pros and cons of the Gel-Venture 7.

Asics Gel-Venture 7 Review

The Asics Gel-Venture 7 is known to be lightweight, durable and at the very least, affordable trail-running shoe.

For somewhere around $70, you’re getting a trail-running shoe that could do most of what the higher-end running shoes can do that cost upwards of $100. It’s lightweight and has a decent amount of cushioning, both ideal features for a long-distance hike. In addition, the Asics Gel-Venture 7 molds to the shape of your feet making running a little bit more comfortable than the last.

Furthermore, the Asics Gel-Venture 7 is equipped with all the necessary elements of a trail-running shoe. I’d say, if you’re on a tight budget, this running shoe is a great deal.

That being said, its strategic placement of the Gel in the forefoot and the heel helps in reducing impact during heelstrike and allows smooth transition in the forefoot as you move forward.

EVA Midsole

The EVA midsole is the most common used midsole in shoes. It provides shock absorption, and increase rebound that is important for trail running.

Ortholite X-40 Sockliner

The Ortholite X-40 is the industry standard when it comes to high-performance rebound.  It also provides excellent moisture management and a high-level of breathability to make you more comfortable on the trail.

ASICS High Abrasion Rubber Outsole

The Asics High Abrasion Rubber outsole, commonly abbreviated as AHAR improves the shoes’ abrasion resistance. It’s made of high-quality rubber that is also commonly used in car tires. FAQ

Is Asics Gel-Venture 7 Good For Running in the Road?

You can run with the Asics Gel-Venture 7 on the road but I wouldn’t consider it good. A pair of Dynaflyte 4 is what you need if you’re looking for an Asics brand for road running.

What is the Difference Between Asics Gel-Venture 6 and Asics Gel Venture 7?

Aside from the weight and a few changes in the design of the shoe, there’s not much of a difference between the Asics Gel-Venture 6 and the Asics Gel-Venture 7. If you have a pair of the 6 and you’re considering an upgrade to 7, it’s not worth it.

New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi Trail

If you’re not satisfied with the Asics Gel-Venture 7, the New Balance Men’s Fresh Foam Arishi V1 Trail Running Shoe is a good alternative. It’s at the same price point with closely similar features. It has an EVA midsole with additional fresh foam for added cushion. In addition, it has reliable traction that will not disappoint you on the trail.

No one can deny the affordability of the Asics Gel-Venture 7. But despite the affordable price point, it features all the essentials of a good pair of trail-running shoes.

Nicho Mauricio

Running wasn't always my favorite sport. I was a CrossFit athlete and I loved every bit of it. But since the pandemic began, I was forced to stay away from the gym and train at home instead. Things got boring. That's when I decided to trail run with my friends. I instantly got hooked. So I started training and researching all things running. As a beginner, I want to buy only the best running gear and do only the best practices. This blog is where I share what I've learned in my journey and my experiences as a runner.
